On 3rd and 4th of August 2012 DETOUR organized a Ramadan Initiative event in the spirit of the holy month of Ramadan.
The idea is “Change lives by donating AED 2 and a creating a unique piece of art”.

Local artist, Hesham Malik, has been commissioned to create a calligraphy work on canvas. The local community is invited to give a donation and put their thumb prints on the canvas. The proceeds collected from this and the sale of the art work will be donated to the Red Crescent Authority. Every 100th thumb impression will win a shopping voucher from our supporting partners.

The unique Chocol’ART charity event concept is the brain child of Ali Hashemi, Mo Fadlallah, and Alex Mir, a.k.a. “The Nutella Boyz”. The event will help raise awareness and funds for children with life-threatening medical conditions and help them fulfill their dreams. Galleries, artists and designers will create unique works during the event, all inspired by and related to the theme of chocolate.

Chocol’art kicked-off with its inaugural event in Beirut June 16th 2011 at Mouawad Palace. Having joined forces with SPLONGE and raising funds for the Children’s Cancer Center of Lebanon (CCCL), this event drew over 1,200 guests. This year, amongst all the distinguished guests and sponsors, Lindt will be displaying 2m tall bunny rabbits and showcasing a chili chocolate fountain.

Each year in the UAE, children are unfortunately diagnosed with a life-threatening medical condition. Thanks to advances in diagnostic and therapeutic technology, many are now being cured while some, unfortunately, lose their battle. By focusing on the positive, the Make-A-Wish Foundation grants these children their most cherished wish. “We originally brought the unique “Nutella Nights” fundraisers in 2007 to show that charitable fundraising events can be fun and creative”, says Mo Fadlallah. “Chocol’art aspires to be an evolved extension of the same concept. We will again be combining the elements of Chocolate and Charity in a series of artistically oriented events that will take place in Lebanon, the UAE and any other country that is interested in spreading the fun and love over the next five years, with the ultimate goal of generating support for regional and international children’s charities”, he continues.
